Great Presidents & Your HealthThere once was a time when we had great presidents. They made astute observations
and stated truths that stand the test of time.
Consider these:
"I believe that banking
institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to
control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around
the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." Thomas Jefferson 1802
"As an individual who undertakes to live by borrowing, soon finds
his original means devoured by interest, and next no one left to borrow from -- so must it be with a government." Abraham Lincoln
"In this and like communities, public
sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it nothing can succeed." Abraham Lincoln
"It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in
a free country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration." George Washington
If the pertinence of these statements and todays current events are lost on you, then a much longer
discussion and more research would be of benefit to you. But what does this have to do with your health? I can elaborate
in brief and the connections will be clear.
Many people are doing with their bodies what we are doing as a nation.
Pretending that they can act any way they want and forego paying the price until some vague time in the future, and then
a magic solution will be found to provide the results that ultimately we know only comes from taking consistently positive steps
toward the supposedly desired goal.
Do you want health to last long into your future? The magic is in the repetition.
Take a positive step. Make a conscious decision and do something good for your body. Make that a habit, no matter how small.
Then make another decision. Make easy ones, ones that you can keep. Gradually add more. Because we all know deep inside that
the promise of the magic pill, the silver bullet, never really arrives. You are the only one that is in control of your health.
Do you know that most people have at this time already fallen "off" their plan for positive changes that
come with the infamous "New Years Resolutions"? Most could have done better by taking small steps and making them
new little habits.
I would wager that you don't have the luxery of unlimited borrowing in your personal life. Eventually
neither will our government. And if you're not taking regular daily steps to do things to create a little bit of health for
you and your body all the time - then you're borrowing against your future health. One day it too will have to be paid.
Hey, at least we have choices. And like most of us teach our children, there are consequences to our choices. Here's
to making ones we can live with.

You are mostly bacteria!According to Scientific American, your body contains ten times more bacterial cells than human ones. “You are more bacteria than you are you.”
And the majority of these bugs are doing you a favor, from producing chemicals that help you harness energy to keeping your
immune system strong. Yeah, that’s right, even helping your immune system? (If you remember the mitochondria, you’ll
be intrigued to know that that is a bacteria we incorporated.)Now scientists have discovered that around 40 of our genes are even bacterial in origin. Your life and identity
is very closely related to the microbial world. So
should you really be worrying about getting sick from “germs”? Not really. While common sense warrants avoiding
obvious contaminants and excessive amounts of non-friendly bacteria, Americans have a particular paranoia about microbes that
has no scientific basis.Want to stay healthy?
Build health from within.1. Get adjusted. Maintain optimum function and communication of your nerve system with all parts of
your body.2. Sunshine. Vitamin D creates the production of antimicrobial peptides.3.
Decrease sugar. It hampers your
immune system and is great nourishment for all things “bad” in our body. Read labels and decrease grains.4.
Exercise. Movement is life in so
many ways.5. Sleep. Most are “undernourished” in this area. 6. And when it comes to cleaning and washing hands, simple soap or alcohol based disinfectants are
the best. “Anti-bacterial” anything is part of the problem with getting “super-bugs”.
